Google is opening its first physical retail Google Store this summer in New York, confirming that physical stores are still needed in the new retail era.
A Chance to Try and Buy
The store, which will be located in the Chelsea area of New York, will be a place for customers to try and buy google products such as Pixel phones, Nest smart home devices, Fitbit trackers, Pixelbooks, and more. The store will also offer services for fixing any issues customers have with bought devices.
Throughout the store, visitors will be able to experience how our products and services work together in a variety of immersive ways, which we’re excited to share more about when the doors open.
We’ll have experts on hand to help visitors get the most out of their device, such as troubleshooting an issue, fixing a cracked Pixel screen or helping with installations.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a longtime Pixel user, are curious about our Nest displays or want to participate in one of the how-to workshops we’ll offer throughout the year — our team will be able to provide you with help that’s specific and personalized to your needs.
Currently Google is operating only online stores for its products across Europe, Asia and America, but if the new physical store proves to be a success the company might open more stores in the future.
Order Online and Pick Up at Store
The store opening is proof that physical retail is still needed during a time of online retail expansion and the pandemic. It will combine online retail with physical, by allowing customers to order products online and pick them up in person at the store location.
Google has experimented before with small pop-up stores to sell its products, but this move shows that the need for customers to see and try out products at a fixed location is still crucial.
The new Google Store is an important next step in our hardware journey of providing the most helpful experience of Google, wherever and whenever people need it.
We look forward to meeting many of our customers and hearing their feedback on the store, so we can continue to explore and experiment with the possibilities of a physical retail space and build upon the experience.

We hope to see you this summer!
Google Press Release
We expect to see more online retailers to follow in the footsteps of Google, as omnichannel retail becomes a growing trend.
