The second ‘Empty Shop’ project in Serbia, organized by Kragujevac Plaza shopping center, has collected nearly 3 tonnes of clothing since its opening.

Over the past month, Kragujevac Plaza has been home to the innovative fundraiser project, ‘Empty Shop’, which has produced outstanding results.

The store has been filled with donations of old clothes and shoes, collecting a total of 2,7 tonnes of clothing that will be handed out to those in need.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to collect such a large amount of clothing at the ‘Empty Shop’, and to spark interest by highlighting the need for charitable actions. I’d like to ask all citizens to continue giving in the coming period, as well as to support organizations such as the Red Cross Kragujevac in the future,” stated Nemanja Savčić, Manager of Kragujevac Plaza shopping center.

So far, the project has provided donations for a total of 76 families who collected their clothing at the site of the Red Cross, as well as the representatives of 21 local municipalities that will distribute donated items to their citizens.

“The Red Cross Kragujevac is happy with the amount and the quality of the clothing donations provided by the kind-hearted citizens of Kragujevac. It makes us especially happy that we have collected a lot of children’s clothing. Winter is a dangerous time for the most vulnerable members of society: children, the elderly, ill and disabled people, as well as those living in remote areas. The Red Cross will partner with the local city and village municipalities to donate the clothing collected through the Empty Shop in the next few days, stated Nevenka Bogdanović, the Secretary of the Red Cross Kragujevac.

The ‘Empty Shop’ in Kragujevac Plaza follows in the footsteps of the successful clothing fundraiser organized in Promenada Novi Sad, which collected more than 6 tonnes of clothing.
