Scallier is expanding its presence in Romania by opening another retail park under the Funshop Park brand.
The new Funshop Park, spanning approximately 10,000 sq m, is located in the Arad district of western Romania and is nearing completion.
It will serve a catchment area of 150,000 people, and its location was chosen due to a strong demand for modern retail space and a local preference for convenient shopping experiences.
Its official opening is scheduled for March 6th of this year.
Retail Park Features

The new retail park is nearly fully leased, with about 95% of the space already contracted.
It is anchored by the supermarket chain Lidl, which has been serving local customers since December of last year.
Its tenant mix will offer a diverse range of international and local brands and services, including:
• DM
• Sinsay
• Pepco
• KIK
• Tedi
• Agroland
Besides its retail offering, the retail park will include an outdoor food court, a playground, and a popular fitness club—Stay Fit Gym.
Its wide range of restaurants will also ensure a comprehensive and engaging retail experience for visitors.
Scallier’s Market Strategy and Growth

Scallier’s expansion in Romania focuses on regions with unmet demand for modern retail facilities.
The company’s latest investment in Arad marks its seventh retail park in the country, adding to its portfolio in Roșiorii de Vede, Focșani, Timișoara, Turda, Vaslui, and Moșnița.
To date, Scallier has delivered approximately 60,000 sq m of Gross Leasable Area (GLA) to the local market, with all projects BREEAM-certified, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development.
Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier, says Romania’s retail market is expanding rapidly. Over 800,000 sq m of modern retail space is under construction—twice as much as in Poland. The country benefits significantly from EU funding, and retail sales growth far exceeds the EU average. Despite this momentum, Romania’s retail stock remains three times smaller than Poland’s, making it one of the least saturated markets in Europe.
“Many areas, particularly suburban and regional locations, lack quality retail offerings. That’s where we focus our investments. Romania’s favorable market conditions encourage retail development, and we are committed to increasing our market share and driving growth in this sector.”— Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier.
