Gregory’s Expanding in Romania

By Retail SEE Group / July 8, 2019

Gregory’s, a Greek coffee and food chain, is expanding its franchise network in Romania with two new store openings in Bucharest.

The chain, which made a comeback to the Romanian market in 2018, continues its expansion with new franchise stores in the most exclusive areas in Bucharest: Lipscani Street and Baneasa Shopping City.

80 UNITS BY 2023

Gregory’s returned to Romania last year, announcing plans to open 80 units across the country by 2023.

The company combines authentic Greek products with the latest food trends, and is the largest snack and coffee chain in Greece, with a growing international presence.

“The coffee and snack market in Romania is booming and there is a growth in demand for Greek products. The proof is in the numbers: our stores in Romania attract approximately 1,000 customers on a daily basis. To meet this demand, we have already signed contracts to open new stores in areas such as Militari, Baloteşti, Colloseum Retail Park, Mihai Bravu and an office building in Bucharest. The goal is to further expand our network using our franchise model. To that end, we are seeking to connect with partners to open Gregory’s stores in new locations,” stated George Makridis, CEO of Green Break SRL, the company that operates the Gregory's brand in Romania.

The first Gregory’s location opened in 1972 in Athens. Today, the chain has more than 330 stores in Greece, Cyprus, Germany and Romania, and is the 9th biggest coffee shop chain in Europe.

By incorporating the latest trends, such as healthy food options and low-calorie snacks, Gregory’s has become a popular concept and go-to place for over 250,000 customers. Its assortment consists of authentic Greek dishes such as the famous Bougatsa, Spanakopita and Feta pies, as well as coffees, fresh juices and vegan products.
