JYSK, Danish furniture and home decor retailer, announced plans to continue its expansion in Romania by opening 16 new stores in 2018.
According to Alex Bratu, JYSK Country Manager for Bulgaria and Romania, the company has had a successful start to the financial year 2017-2018 - recording a strong organic growth driven by last year’s store openings.
JYSK’s online sales rose by 95 percent compared to the previous year and were 50% higher than in its best-performing physical store in Bucharest.
In 2018, the Danish furniture giant will enter two new Romanian cities, Ramnicu Sarat and Targu Secuiesc, and is also scheduled to open new stores in Bistrita, Curtea de Arges, Medgidia and Bucharest.
Currently, JYSK operates more than 50 stores across Romania. Within the South East Europe region, the retailer is also present in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Kosovo.
JYSK is an international chain of stores with Scandinavian roots that sells everything for the home. The first store opened in Denmark in 1979 and today JYSK has over 2,500 stores and 21,000 employees in 48 countries. In Germany and Austria the stores are called Dänisches Bettenlager – in the rest of the world JYSK.
The owner and founder of JYSK GROUP is Lars Larsen who is also the owner of the furniture retail chains Bolia.com, IDEmøbler and ILVA, as well as a number of other companies. The annual turnover of LARS LARSEN GROUP is 3.6 billion EUR.
